How Much Should I Order?

Our Top 3 Tips for Planning Your Next Event

Ordering bagels for your family weekend breakfast is something you don’t even need to think about, but when it comes to hosting a group for an event, knowing how much to order can be a little perplexing.

At Rosenfeld’s we’ve fulfilled thousands of catering and small group orders over our 50+ years in business and can guide you in ordering just the right amount. Here are our top three tips:

  1. Start with a standard serving. After years of catering events, we’ve found the following serve as a good rule of thumb:
    • One and a half bagels per person
    • 1 pound of lox per 10 people
    • 1 pound of cream cheese per dozen bagels
    • 1 small sweet per person (bubka bite, cookie, or slice of pastry)

  2. Know your audience. Are you feeding a group of teenage football players after a big game or are you hosting a senior ladies’ afternoon book club? Consider the appetites of those attending your event, as well as the other foods you’re serving. If bagels are the main dish, you’ll want to make sure to have enough for everyone. When it comes to flavor variety, pick your favorites, but know that Plain is always a hit, and Everything with a good schmear is one of our most popular sandwiches on the weekends.
  3. Do you want leftovers? Who doesn’t love some Challah french toast the next morning? And what if you’re too busy during your event to grab a bite? We know some people simply love leftovers, so if you want to make sure you have breakfast for the next day, or to send home with your guests, then go ahead and boost those order amounts to allow for that (FYI our bagels and Challah freeze beautifully).

We hope these tips help you plan your order for your next event, making it even more enjoyable. Ready to place an order? We offer online ordering with convenient delivery or pickup of your order.
